RBS has a long history of providing some of the world’s leading cycle-sport brands to the UK market. As cycling fanatics we understand the needs of the committed sports person – and issues such as materials technology, the latest trends and developments, position, nutrition, etc.

We have always sought out smaller brands with products designed and produced with passion by true enthusiasts. RBS has enjoyed long-term and continuing relationships with its core brands - sometimes from their very inception. We therefore know our brands inside out. Isaac is a good case in point, to the extent that RBS works with Isaac on developments for the future.

Being staffed by cyclists, RBS is able to communicate in language that the sports person will understand.  The folio of brands has been selected because each is the leader in its respective field and an established player in the global market.

RBS products are supplied through carefully selected shop-front retailers. We appreciate that our products demand a level of expertise and service that only the best shops can provide. We understand that a high level of advice and backup is of value to the sports person who selects an exclusive high end product to optimise his or her performance.

We are based in a new, purpose equipped warehouse facility on the South Coast of England. We supply to specialist shops throughout the British Isles. Trade enquiries are welcome, and we are always happy to answer retail consumers’ technical questions, before pointing them in the direction of their nearest stockist.

About ISAAC

Isaac innovation

There is very little that is truly revolutionary in bicycle technology and design. Most of the major innovations that we class as ‘modern’ today were actually patented more than 100 years ago. Clipless pedals, indexed handlebar gear controls, hollow alloy cranks, cartridge bearings, straight-pull spokes, sloping frames, etc. It’s all been done before, a long time ago. So what is actually really new? Well, materials have come a long way lately. But then experiments with different types of material are hardly new either. It’s just that today we have the technology to make them work, and the means to produce them in an economical way. Do you remember the prices of the very first carbon frames? Now we can pretty much all afford a carbon frame if we want one.

However, there has been one significant design innovation in recent years. It’s a fundamental one, and searches have revealed no previous patents. This innovation is the dual diameter steerer – and Isaac originally devised it.

Isaac’s cutting-edge dual-diameter steerer is a truly original Isaac idea dating back to 2001. Isaac achieved quantifiable performance benefits by reviewing every aspect of conventional fork, head tube and head-set design. Isaac developed these as a complete integrated system, rather than individual components. The results presented a major challenge to traditional conventions – but delivered lab-proven benefits in strength, safety, efficiency and bike handling.

A larger diameter at the base of the steerer makes perfect sense, and the larger lower head-set race is an added advantage. The elliptical head tube, most suited to housing this arrangement, increases frame stiffness for improved efficiency and handling. This all makes so much good sense that many other leading manufacturers have taken Isaac’s lead and developed very similar systems themselves. We don’t like to use the words ‘copy’ or ‘imitate’. Let’s just say that Isaac is suitably flattered. So, is this the only significant design innovation for bicycle in the 21st century? We think so.

Committed to carbon monocoque

Isaac is a carbon bike brand. Since 2003, all of its frame models have been carbon fibre. For 2007 all of Isaac’s frames are true-monocoque. As with Newton’s laws, Isaac deals only with undeniable truths. Independent testing proves that there is only one real performance material, and one optimum way to use it. Carbon-composite monocoque is the unchallenged solution when pure performance is the goal. Isaac has made a total commitment to the one category of material, and one type of construction technique, that can provide the values ultimately desired by today’s competitive cyclist.
